Saturday February 18th marks the 22nd Annual SKATE 48 Hockey Tournament
SKATE 48 has a long standing tradition of fun hockey, a boisterous post-game meal, prizes, bragging rights, spirited conversation and an incredible fundraiser for local children's charities. Teams challenge each other to a one game hockey duel with the winning team having the honour of eating roast beef and the losing team receiving hot dogs at the post game party. In addition to the ice time and meal, all participants receive a commemorative hockey shirt that has long been coveted in dressing rooms around the Kitchener-Waterloo region.
With a team registration fee of only $125 and space for only 64 teams, SKATE 48 provides incredible value, a whole lot of fun and the opportunity to help children in our community. The three ice surfaces at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex are booked from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and time slots are awarded on a first-come first-served basis. If you are hoping to play on the main Kitchener Auditorium ice, or hope to secure a specific time slot, you have to act now, so make sure to register right away.
This one game challenge style tournament has provided many entertaining and competitive hockey games, while raising funds for charities and other worthwhile causes in our community and throughout the world. Participants are encouraged to raise funds throughout the community and prizes are awarded on a team and an individual player basis based on the amounts raised. Over the 20 years of this event, nearly $2 million has been raised!
SKATE 48 is hosted by the Rotary Club of Kitchener-Grand River.
